Sabine Be Glasses

Sabine Begault–Vagner was born in Orléans France, into an optical family. Her father was the head of an optical lens laboratory and her mother was an Optician. Sabine always dreamed of a career in fashion and design but was discouraged by her father, who urged her to follow in the family’s footsteps and pursue a career in optics. Despite this, Sabine applied to study at stylist schools but to no avail, she ended up pleasing her father by becoming an Optician herself. It was only 5 years later that Sabine was heartbroken to discover that her father had in fact hidden her acceptance into design school!

Throughout her 25-year career as an Optician, Sabine worked alongside and maintained a binding relationship with her mother. In 2009 her mother sadly passed away and Sabine had the “life’s too short” epiphany that we are all familiar with. It was then that she decided it was time to make her dream come true.

Armed with only a few prototypes and a lot of motivation, Sabine decided to launch her business in the USA during a trip to visit her son who was studying international business in Los Angeles. She knocked on many doors and was turned away until the famous Julia Gogosha’s Optical (the real world-icon for young designers) said yes and placed an immediate order and the rest was history.

Sabine Be is now a fast-emerging brand with over 1000 stockists worldwide with only 15 lucky stockists in the United Kingdom (as of 07/02/23). Not only do we believe in Sabine’s vision but we proudly wear her frames too. Why not join us? Be brave, be bold, be Sabine Be.
